I was thinking about this on my way home from work. I'm not sure if this is done already in another country but here's my idea.
Why can't the cities make a heated sidewalk? Something that will mainly be used in winter. The heated sidewalks can help melt any snow and ice off the sidewalk so people don't slip and fall which would be good for old people. Just enough to melt snow and ice but not too hot to melt shoes.
